Hi

 The past 3 months, i have been reading lots of mangas with survival themes: zombie apocalypses, insect invasions (a la The Mist), worlds in different dimensions where it's either the daunting plot of 'Survival of the fittest' or the desperate attempt at surviving where there isn't much hope.

 It made me think so hard about survival. Dang mangas can be so influential.

 Mangas in question: Attack on Titan, Cage of Eden, Dead Days, HIVE, Ajin, Lessa, Parasyte

 Desperate situations to cling on to life make us lose the part of us that makes us humans; that's what i've learned. So much for hope, if someone you know can put you out as bait so they can escape.

 Its still fiction but why are these plots so exciting even though in an actual event the viewers would be shitting their pants in fear? Same goes for me, i think survival is one of my favourite genres of any entertainment. It's thrilling until it becomes real. Survival scenes even come into my dreams too and i hope it means something good if i manage to run like crazy to avoid the initial rage mass murder of a monster and to kill it face on when i have no escape.

 All these dark themes make me scared because i am aware that i am only slightly braver in my dreams where i won't actually die. And so now i fear a death in which i am so helpless to save my life.

 Which is why i must start learning survival skills, just in case, because i am hella paranoid and i need to be fit to live. All these media play/entertainment made me aware that i need these skills. I never want to be in a situation where i am helpless to protect myself or my loved ones. We don't need actors or books to have an inkling of that pain.

 In other news, Taiwan was hit by a Typhoon in August and another one today, Typhoon Dujuan is a "Super Typhoon", equal in power to a category 4 hurricane. and im going to be in taipei in 5 days. Praying that i'll not be stranded anywhere or swept away or crushed and have to amputate my limbs if i am not dead or hit by a vehicle whilst they are evacuating or pushed by someone into the flood and drown.

 I NEED TO BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE.
