Hi

Since the last post, the weather here in Singapore has been crazy hot lately, i finished my second block of school, its a 2 week holiday break now and i went for Ellie Goulding's Concert!!!

Continue-ing on Day 3!

It's our last day of F&E before we joined our tour group and we really made the most out of it. Went to rush so many places in a day. You can use our itinerary too if you want to experience some variety in a day, i think it's pretty neat and flows. These places are worth going to! First up, Noryangjin Fish Market!!

Directions! (in sequence)

Directions to Noryangjin Fish Market ->Yeouido (Han River) ->Hongdae:

1) From Myeongdong/Chungmuro: Take Line 4 (sky blue) to Seoul Station.

2) Transfer at Seoul Station to Line 1 (dark blue) to Noryangjin Station. (Exit 1)

------------------------------Noryangjin Fish Market------------------------------

3) From Noryangjin Station: Take Line 9 (dirty yellow) to Yeouido Station

-----------------------Yeouido Park/ Hangang (Han River) -----------------------

4) From Yeouido Station: Take Line 9 (dirty yellow) to Dangsan Station

5) Transfer at Dangsan to Line 2 (Dark Green) to Hongik University Station.

----------------------------------- Hongdae-----------------------------------

We left our guesthouse pretty early, popped by Paris Baguette to grab some food and hopped on the Metro (ate on it too hehe) to Noryangjin. It's best to go there early, it smells less and the seafood is somewhat fresher? Yup. Take Exit 1 and walk over the Overhead Bridge, follow the signages and you're there! If you can't find it, then the fishy smell will lead you.
us on that bridge: ft my absolutely horrifying derp face

This is literally the first view you see, its a seafood paradise and everyone's really busy!
An ahjusshi stopped to talk to us while we were taking videos and chatted a little (we spoke some broken korean and he spoke broken english), then suggested us a place to cook our food. Nice locals hehe.
Basically, you can find whatever you crave as long as its in season. Crabs, prawns, octopus, squids, eels, fish, sashimi, sea urchin, mussels, shellfish, abalone and some weird seafood that you might never have seen in your life. (i saw many huge ugly fishes and i didn't think fishes could be ugly).

Here's how you eat in Noryangjin: First you buy seafood at a shop (either they prepare as sashimi or just plonk it in a black bag), then you take them to a restaurant where they cook it for you and you pay them.

if you love seafood, you'll be spoilt for choice here

Prawns as large as your face.

Huge octopi - the locals eat live octopuses too (sannakji) ><

We got some fish

Im not kidding when i said Huge
King Crab (which is pretty expensive),
we bought crab too (5 for 10,000W)
Cute ahjumma! I bought baby octopi. (10,000W)

I got this too, thought it was stingray but nooo it wasn't.
Tasted weird and the locals said it smells when cooked :x
Spot the salmon

4,000W for these!

The salmon was fresher than Jay Park (reused but original joke haha)
TIP! the prices are really competitive there, standard prices for most seafood is about 10,000W. (but it's more than enough for 2 people, you can ask if they can sell you half of it @ 5,000W)

We obviously bought far far far too much for 2. (and this was Brunch). We then went into one of the restaurants at the side and they'll cook our food for you~

Our octopus (only i ate it tbh)
The weird phantom fish thing.
It looks so gross, don't buy it!
CRAB, errbody love crab
Random fish (3 for 5,000W)
So it was a mighty filling meal and we had thought that the cooking fee wouldn't be too expensive, but guess what? It cost 30,000W! almost as much as what we paid for our seafood in total (35,000W), which comes up to about $80 SGD for that one meal!! I was in shock, especially since the restaurant didn't even add ANY ingredients at all except for the Octopus.(it was only 4 dishes, since my salmon was prepared by the store i bought it from). I heard them read our bill in Korean and steaming the crabs cost 10,000W (when all they did was pop the crab in a steamer -_-). I had no idea whether they were ripping us off because we were tourists but it was such an outrage T_T. (We're students on our own expenses, don't say that we're petty bcos it's pretty darn overpriced :x)
Perhaps we were greedy and bought too much, but still i'd love to go back there to try shellfish and bloodworm (the one Bom, Nana and SungWoo went to eat in Roommate.) Rachel also packed the fish and crab bcos she couldn't finish it, which led to something funny later.

So we left really full and somewhat sick to Yeouido, around noontime.
3) From Noryangjin Station: Take Line 9 (dirty yellow) to Yeouido Station or Yeouinaru Station (both is fine)
From Exit # 1 of Yeouinaru Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line 5)
walk 10 minutes towards SBS TV Station.
- From Exit # 3 of Yeouido Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line 5), walk 5 minutes
towards the National Assembly building.

(ask for directions if you can't find it.)
the entrance!

selcas at this angle, what even-
Candid!
Pretty much thought that every white/light pink blooming tree was a Cherry Blossom. (still too early for Yeouido)

We rented bikes for an hour to go around yeouido park and hangang!

still Winter > Spring time so the trees haven't bloomed yet (mid April most likely)

FELL DOWN BCOS THIS GIRL AISHH but it was funny
King Sejong!

i love this picture bcos the two men might be talking about some sentimental stuff from over the years like Do Min Joon and his Lawyer BFF #dramaworthy

we selca everywhere and i even took vids and pics while cycling,
which led to a painful but epic fall caught on camera.
Pardon my half open lids it was the blinding sun

looks pretty drab in picture but it's prettier irl
looking for her future, (what's that expression?)
with the sun in our eyes ahhahah

Han at the Hangang ey

they have these in random places all around Seoul, really pretty
The whole area can be explored in an hour on bike if you don't spend too much time taking pics of your face like we did :x Its a really relaxing and beautiful place which i think would look fantastic in full bloom around Mid April-May. Visit it then! a must visit place tbh.

Goodbye Yeouido! Next, Hongdae!!! Directions again:
4) From Yeouido Station: Take Line 9 (dirty yellow) to Dangsan Station

5) Transfer at Dangsan to Line 2 (Dark Green) to Hongik University Station.
Oppas errywhere
Hongdae is the area around Hongik University, so you can expect to find all the trendy clothing shops, noraebangs, cute unique cafes, street art and performances and gourmet restaurants. It also is the clubbing and drinking area so unless you're legal and prepared, don't attempt to go to any of those. Drunk Ahjusshis are scary as fak. Basically, its a place of creativity, self-expression and a quaint cosy place that you wouldn't mind spending an entire day soaking in the atmostphere. Unfortunately, we didn't have a whole day too, but this is what we did.
lovely lovely lovely

street art!

First Stop! Stylenanda!
Surprisingly, not many locals knew about Stylenanda as it is known outside of Korea.(probably because of the many imitations sold online). We asked 2 locals, a middle aged lady and she helped us ask a younger student and they both didn't know where it was. Being ever so helpful (i'm so grateful), the first lady brought us into the heart of Hongdae, a very busy intersection point where the different streets met. She then asked more young people and they said to ask the tourist information centre instead. And so we did and thanked her.
The tourist info guides are maybe bilingual to trilingual(?!?!?) and they wear RED uniforms as well as a large hat. They could be roaming around in groups to help lost tourists find directions so ask them for help if you need, they're really helpful and speak English, Chinese and Japanese.
There's also a info centre (noticeable with a sign "i" above it) and they offer the same services.
Spent forever trying out makeup and only got one lipstick after 30 minutes :/
The staff are really like Ulzzangs wow
There's a neoprint booth inside Stylenanda that's free and we tried it hehe.
The booth somehow makes you look prettier like an Ulzzang idek how :x

More street art!

friggin cute cafes
We went to make a short visit to Thank's Nature Cafe and went to pet their sheeps, which were really cute. And then got directions to this place! Tom's Cat Cafe, it's pretty famous. 8,000W for a drink and entry to play/take pictures and laze around with the cats for maybe as long as you want.
Be warned i am a full-time cat lover and the following pictures may overwhelm you with cuteness and joy.

Cutiepie
this Angel went up to our table the first thing we came in and lay down and i stroked her fur till she slept,
the cutest cat ever.(with beautiful eyes to boot)
Her fur is as soft and white as the fallen first snow of winter

ehehehehe

Sarang = love
Silo

kitty with Heterochromia (eyes with diff colors)

Ahh i really miss that place!

Did i mention that we came from Noryangjin that morning and Rach had fish in her bag so we were extra attractive to the Cats hhahaha.

tis the place IU sat at in the drama Pretty Man(which is decent)
Ice cream waffle: 4 flavour, 4 scoops, 1,000W friggin yummy and cheap
street performance! they really sang well, english was p.good too!

the dokbokki restaurant EXO was at huehuehue

Eggbread? streetfood, try it!
Rach being herself
We then went to visit the Free Market and it sold lots of interesting and unique stuff but were pretty costly still :/ Hongdae definitely is the place to be if you just want a day off to relax and shop, a must go place for sure!
JKS decal haha

-Day 3 끝-

Day 4! Last few hours and then Tour time!

We headed to Anguk first thing in the morning after chowing down breakfast to visit the Bukchon Hanok Village! Technically it wasn't a village, but a lovely quaint place to visit if you're into the cultural part of Korea.

Directions to Bukchon Hanok Village:
Take Line 3 (orange) straight to Anguk Station. Take Exit 2 and walk straight for about 300m. (If you get lost, look for a tourist info booth "i")

We got lost around there first ahahah expected from us. But we had the Olleh egg and wandered about for quite sometime before we found the more concentrated part of the Village. Be reminded that people do live in that neighbourhood, so when you visit, try to be as quiet as possible!
cutest banana signs on the lampposts!
not cherry blossoms apparently

walking into dead end ahahahha

Rach you are in every photo pls

im just :x

look for this if you get lost

This is the house where they used the external to film for Personal Taste!
One of my first and fav kdramas!
We actually didn't know it was this house while we were finding it and took pictures with it, then we went on a super tiring search for it XD
My red hair TT_TT (it stayed for the duration of my trip only ugh 150bucks wasted)

TAKE NOTE if you wanna see the Personal Taste house!

That sums up our Free & Easy three days! next we rushed to the airport and met our tour!

Selca at idek where :x The second picture is without filters to show you how colorless my red hair was without the vibrant filter. ughh
If anyone's curious, i'm using my smexy camera, the Canon Powershot G16 and its really all i can ask for. We took a long bus ride and ferry to Nami Island first!

The place had these mini countries landmarks in it

would look magical at night and if there were leaves

forever glam Rachel

THIS IS THE FOREST
THE FOREST OF WINTER SONATA

there's only weird pictures bcos normal pictures aren't worth sharing

silly duckie
forever glam thx
We obviously spent too long camwhoring and had to run all the way to the entrance to find our tourgroup (we are always the latest due to self-absorbence and ignorance of the time)
I really couldn't help myself but stop to take a pic of this beautiful creature, which i know is a peacock
couple k-segway race i just #relationshipgoals
Bye Namiseom!
Our super veggie dinner later that night! I think its chicken and veg stir fry. Korean restaurants commonly have customers cook themselves. Some have freeflow of meat and banchae is always free but self-served.

when you see a dog,
you'll also see a Duck
Ended the day in our hotel(yes finally nice hotels) in the snow resort place~
Eating ramen the korean way (with the pot lid)  ehehe (its instant Jjajangmyun<3)

-Day 4 끝-

Breakfast the next day!
Banchae

Day 5: We went to Mount Sorak in the morning! It was so cold and i was wearing barely two layers as the rest of my clothes were wet T_T (and so i was freezing)

Tchaaa so beautiful!

Look at my cold unhappy face

beanie off ahahaha

my dad said my liptint was OTT

We bought these rice crackers and shared them with anyone (random ahjummas and cleaners there, they were so grateful and happy it was heartwarming)
Yes we shared our food with random strangers. You'll never know how happy you can make them be. Even if they might've ate it about 100 times in their life or more.

Finally up the cable car and up the mountain!

Wonderful view and wonderful cold

Hiker Rach
I built this and wished upon it :)

We made it this far bcos this ahjumma can't take the cold. (wasn't very far up even ahaha)

wahhhhh /wind gushes in your face

its really the best place for a family outing if you like hiking i mean. Except you have to pay for the cable car ride.
Next we took a long bus ride to someplace and took the Korail from there to another place. (i really have no clue where what when)
We've already sat on this accidentally that time and paid quite a fair bit :X

Dinner place's so fancy! Had no food pics i forgot or maybe it wasn't impressive enough.
-Day 5 끝-

Im sure i missed out some parts of our tour day but they probably weren't interesting enough for me to take any pictures of soooo-

Have a good day, i'll continue this soon!

-J
